Question Ele Droks Run... is it possible?

Has anyone got a build for an Ele that can do the Beacons to Droks run. I am involved in a competition at the moment and i have until Saturday to be able to do the run (or at least get the furthest).

I have tried a number of builds, and i am not sure what the best one could be.

1. E/Mo -> similar to the W/Mo build, except i use ele running skills. problem is the Ice Imps hit me with freeze and then Maelstrom before i can get my hex removal.

Armour of Mist, Mist form (e), Storm Djinns Haste, Armor of Frost, Holy Veil, Purge Conditions, Smite Hex, Healing Breeze

2. E/R -> this one involves using Obsidian Flesh and Serpents Quickness. With OF and SQ i can keep Obsidian flesh up 24/7. However, i am now moving at 50% speed which is not really running is it? maybe Storm Chaser? other running skills from the Ranger Secondary?

i think i could maybe tank most of the way (as it is a contest for the furthest distance). can anyone come up with some good anti-melee, projectile + running skills for a ranger that are low on recharge and quick to activate (stances?). this might be the only way...

3. E/x ???

any help would be great. unfortunatley i don;t have NF so no Dervish skills. I know that there is a E/D build that can do it which is 95% Dervish skills. lol

i have also heard of a Me/R build that can do the run, but am yet to see it.

Main point is if i can get past the Mind Freeze / Maelstrom then i am set.

i will be sure to post back any successful builds or semi success'es.

There is an E/A running build in untested.

For Mesmer, tested area has Me/W Illusory Forge Runner

E/A seems the most obvious, to me. Just use Shadow Form, and that spell that halves the recharge of sin skills, and storm djinns haste. I've never run it before....if there is basically nonstop monsters along the way, it wouldn't work because SF can't be kept up permanently. Even if there was just 1 30 second stretch of nonstop monsters, you probably couldn't do it.

i once paid for a run just so that i could watch it. no i lie, i wanted Droks armour badly... lol.

there are spots along the way that you get to stop and rest. not sure on the gaps, but it will all come down to timing i suspect.

thanks, i will give them a try tonight... let you know the score.

Don't bother with the mesmer build, the creator of it has been trying to get it archived for 8 days now claiming that NF had made the build obsolete, so its a waste of time and energy at this point.

@ Drakzel - Thanks for posting that info. Saves OP from wasting his time.

@ OP - pro runners will tell you it's about 90% build and skill and 10% luck of the spawn.

Your best bet to being a good runner would be to buy NF and be a D/Mo. When I was lvl 16 I beat a lvl 20 warrior to beacons from yaks. I didnt get below 50% health and I was faster. The one thing that dervish have over all the other classes are avatars. I mainly use Avatar of Balthazar to run but I would also use Avatar of Melandru when I get it. In my opponion the best runners are D/A, however I dont have factions yet so im still with my D/Mo

Paying $50 to get NF, just so you can get there faster, seems a bit over-the-top.

Avvre was the first memser i believe to run droks pre-factions.

I also believe back in 2005 there was a community to run droks with every class in game, pre-factions.

Im sure its even easier now with the added skill listings.

If you are going to get an expansion, then i would choose NF. I just got factions but im on a trip and cant use it grrrr. I'll get home in a few days and then I'll see how good it is.

Might try birthday cupcakes and an Assassin for Shadow Form, but without Deadly Paradox and Arcane Echo it probably won't last long enough to get you through the first cave. Maybe if you can activate it in the cave, but that will be tough with the wurm on your butt. Also, no knockdown prevention, maybe Dash will get you away from the wurm fast enough to dodge his knockdown.
